For once it almost seems as though Mother Nature got hold of our calendars, noted that Autumn had begun, and shaped the weather to suit. Although it looks nice out, it is quite windy and chilly up in Z-town. Burr. Maybe it just seems colder, and too early for the chill, because summer seemed to slip by with little overheating to complain of.
Today has been our lil' family fun day. The three of us are home together on this sunny hump day. BigCat was laid off beginning last Thursday, so again we are becoming accustomed to a new, but familiar, routine. There is no word on when the work will pick-up (isn't that just the story of today??); our hope is no later than next spring. So, in the mean time, if you know anyone that needs some handyman work done...
With so many things in life, there is an upside and a downside to this development. Although there is plenty to worry about, my hope is to focus on the positives for as long as I can... little housework on the weekends, cooked dinners at my homecoming, my bonding boys with a side of me on Wednesdays.
Happy fall to all!!

Take 5
As I was listening to talk radio on my way home (yes, I'm that old - ahem - sophisticated) I heard the dreaded words... 'cancel a show like Dirty Sexy Money'. What?!?! Cancel DSM?? I haven't felt a disappointment like this over something so incredibly trivial in a really long time. I felt it all the way to my stomach. I explained to BigCat tonight that I haven't felt this excitement for the tele since Friends ended... and when was that, five years ago? Since last season, this has been a highlight of my Wednesday's, right behind having the day off with the Bird. [tear]
I hope it's not another five years til the next great. Or am I missing one out there??

Easy Peasy
That's what my co-working friend said about the last procedure I had in attempt to figure out my stomach issues. I, however, felt differently. I guess it wasn't difficult on my part, but I didn't enjoy it. On Wednesday, I am finally going to the specialist. Apparently he's like the specialist of specialists, who specializes in post gallbladder removal surgery. Whew. And the procedure: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography... It's not even easy to say much less easy to endure! Nah, it'll be fine.
Although I'm not looking forward to the procedure, I am anxiously awaiting some answers. Let's hope I get some, and fixable ones at that!
Correction: Sorry, I got a little ahead of myself. When I received the paperwork for my appointment I looked it over and put it away for the following month. In the mean time, I searched mayoclinic.com and pulled up the name of the below mentioned procedure... I saw the looooong last word and assumed (we all know what ass-u-me stands for) that was my procedure. Well, really I'm having magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography. This is a "less invasive alternative to [ERCP]".

Verdict
The verdict is in... I didn't get the position. At this time, I am trying to force some positive thoughts:
* Both the Bird and I still have Wednesday's to enjoy together
* I am content with my current position
* With my recent health issues, a department that understands is helpful
* The supervisor "wishes they had a position for me"
* She also stated that a great fitting position may be opening in the future
* They now know me and were very impressed
* If they did have someone in mind when this all began (which is what I believe), I have a chance of being that someone the next time around.
So, that's that. Onto the weekend to recover.

Fair Day
I feel like I've really been slacking on my blog duty. Not sure where the time is going, just disappearing along with summer.
And along with the end of summer always comes the state fair. We're heading out today, I can hardly wait! I didn't go last year since the Bird had just graced us with his presence, so I'm hard up for some greasy, fatty, wonderful fair food. A few things we plan to have: Fried pickles with cream cheese, pork chop on a stick, Pickle Dog (pickle wrapped in cream cheese and pastrami or something), Sweet Martha's cookies. I actually did a bit of planning outside of the food arena as well - I'd like to check out a couple real exhibits. Crazy, I know.
The Bird will be with us so I'm sure to bring the camera to get a few '1st State Fair' pics. Hopefully the weather cooperates... I'm okay - to quite okay - with clouds, but rain, not so much.

Sun~n~Sand
The Bird and I went to the beach today with our friends Heather and Hunter. We had such a great time! We went for a little stroll, ate lunch, played and swam. As soon as we got in the water, The Bird had company... little Allie was 4, or 3, but she thought 4, and took a liking to him right away. She tooled around with The Bird in tow and they both had a great time. Turns out she really likes babies, and thought he was so cute, and The Bird really likes little girls, so it worked out well for everyone involved. So cute. Already the older women are after him!
It was a perfect day: beautiful weather, good company and lots of smiles. He fell fast asleep on the way home and is peacefully napping now. I love it all.
I so wish I could upload the pictures...

If I had more hours today...
I would:
clean house
finish book
wash car
fertilize baby shrubs and trees
organize
go for lake walk
balance checkbook
transplant flowers
But, I don't! I'm okay with knowing that everything will wait patiently for my next spare moment. Pea is fast asleep, and how am I spending my time?? Bloggin'!! It's kind of sad how addicted I am to the Internet. Speaking of which, I do plan to get a new computer in the near future, maybe August, and start a mad career of picture sharing! And as a little cliff-hanger... I'll be posting some pics later today (hopefully) since a disc is waiting for me at Target. For now, off to do some of the things that are in the time allotment, like laundry. It's all better than a day at the office.

WEDnesDAY
Today has been, and will continue to be, a good day.
Peanut and I dropped Kalli off at the beauty shop, then went for a walk down by the lake. I love that about where we live, the right amount of city and the right amount of country. We've never walked down there together before, it was so nice seeing the water, hearing the birds and feeling the sunshine. Perfect. Even better, we ran into a nice little park where Peanut got to swing for the first time... he loved it! Big smiles and giggles the entire time (here's a perfect place in which I could share a picture). We headed home in time for lunch and a nap.
It's mid-afternoon now and we're getting ready to head out again. Peanut gets to hang out with Grandpa and Grammy, BigCat and I get to go to a wedding! My girlfriend is getting married, and I'm so happy to be sharing in this beautiful day with her and her almost hubby. This may be the only WEDnesDAY wedding in my life. Congrats K & R!!

Happy Hump Day
Here we are, already half-way through yet another week. Today was a lovely day off, spending time with Peanut, enjoying the beautiful weather. We went and did some grocery shopping, he really enjoys looking around at everyone and everything. It's absolutely incredible to me who talks to him the most... men. Anywhere from middle aged to "I have 3 granddaughters". Grown men turn on their soft, baby voices and chat with Peanut like no one else is around. I love seeing the gentle side of guys, even if they are complete strangers.
I estimate I haven't actually run, say a mile, in probably 10 years plus, and even back then it was tough. Well, I'm very slowly working my way up. I figure I probably ran anywhere from a quarter to half mile today on my walk (I realize that sounds like nothing to some people, but I never felt as though my body was made for running). Although I don't mind the elliptical in the cold, stark gym, it feels so good to be outside, looking at the scenery and breathing the fresh air... til I can hardly breathe. :) It sure feels good.
