Went to GG's today (Great Grandma Mary), Peanut had fun playing with her! We met Auntie Ann for lunch, then picked up some groceries and headed back for moi to get beat in a game of Domino's. That GG is one tough cookie! It was a beautiful day to be out and about spending time with family.
I hadn't been to Perkins in ages, but they have a soup that is now in my top few... cheesy potato. Good and plain jane just how I like it. Mmm mm!
And to top the day off, I got myself a fun, bright bunch of flowers at Cub. Something I never do but am convinced I should do a bit more often.
What a lovely day.

T minus...
Yay!! The vacation ticker is below 2 months, the countdown is officially on! I can't believe all of the exciting things happening this summer/fall. It's going to be festivity after festivity, especially with both of BigCat's and my only siblings getting hitched. I can hardly wait! Although I'm not trying to rush summer being over, especially not before it's even begun.
I'm getting back up onto the workout train now that I'm finally feeling 100% after my Mexico trip. No worries, it was nothing extreme, just small stuff. With all of the 2008 happenings near (weddings, swim suit season, {ahem} 10 year reunion), I have enough motivation to choke a horse, if that is indeed what would choke a horse.

Emergency Team Member
We're having a tornado drill at work today and it's my responsibility as my department's Emergency Team Member to make sure all other employees are out and safe before myself. Yep, that's right, I'm putting my life on the line for others {firm pat on the back}. What I don't really understand is why we need to practice this drill. We learned so early in school what to do and now as adults still need lessons? And really, if there were a tornado, or fire, or other extreme condition, are people really going to listen to me, or just run for their lives? I think I'd probably be running for my own at that point. If you can't figure it out, too bad. Hard lesson learned. So, in a bit here, I'm heading to the basement to sweat it out with hundreds of other county employees. Good times.

Crabbit
That's what I am today. Not for the greatest of reasons. Partly because I was up too late in order to LOSE all 3 of our games. The other reason are small ones that are just piling up into a little mound.
I pose a question for the parental units out there... how do you feel about baby swimming classes? I was planning to sign Peanut and myself up for the 'Minnows' class in June, with a good friend and her babe that's the same age. I told BigCat about it yesterday and it proceeded into a disagreement on our way to FIL and MIL's. The class is for little ones 6-18 months, Peanut would be about 10. Obviously he may not actually learn to swim, but I thought it would be fun for the two of us and that he'd get acclimated to the water before the almighty Lake E vacay. I was so excited and then quickly disappointed when I learned that the hubby doesn't think it's a good idea whatsoever. Just to verify, he thinks lessons would be good someday but just not this early. I see his point but I still think it would be a good idea and good fun for Peanut and me! As of right now, I said 'fine, I won't do it' but now I'm leaning towards doing it.

My Baby
He's already 8 months! Where does the time go??
Sand volleyball starts tonight. A 9:30 game... don't they know I'm getting too old to be out that late on a work night?!?!?

Baa Baa
In looking for the cute lil' lambs out the back window, I'm suddenly distracted by all the... garbage! Yesterday's wind seems to have blown in every piece of litter people throw out along with the neighbor's ball and flung it up against the farmer's fence lining our backyard. 11hn hg <------ (Peanut was typing to say hi). Disgusting.

1st Friday
That's what today is, my first Friday of the week. Gotta love it! Peanut and I are just hanging out tomorrow, maybe getting a few things done, but mainly playing. I'm looking forward to it so. And with the beautiful weather I intend to get us out for our first walk of the season... I can hardly wait!
Don't you hate when your stomach doesn't hold as much as you want it to? That happened to me last night at Benihana (mmm)... The good news is that I have an awesome lunch today. Woo hoo!

List
I love lists, I make one for everything I can think of, so today I'm listing 5 things I'm thankful for (other than the obvious ones like my wonderful family and friends).
* that my daycare provider hasn't called me to pick up Peanut (she informed me this a.m. that she's sick but would keep the kids as long as she didn't develop a temp. being she just had a babe herself, I've missed a decent amount of work because of their appts, etc. don't necessarily want to miss more)
* for work - this even feels odd for me to say, but I am. I absolutely l.o.v.e my Wednesdays off with Peanut, but coming back to work isn't so bad either. I have the perfect schedule. can hardly beat 2 Fridays in a week.
* veggie wraps - a new restaurant opened in the Anoka area and they have my new fave! it's a steamed veggie wrap with havarti cheese... awesome!
* watching Oprah yesterday - it was about her new book choice, A New Earth. I wasn't overly interested in it until yesterday. I learned one tip that I plan to use the rest of my life, to try to lower anxiety, about being in the here and now. It worked like a charm last night, quickly to sleep I fell without a thought on my mind. I may just go get the book now.
* inside work - I'm actually thankful I have plenty to do indoors the next few days. the outdoors are becoming much too depressing!
Life is good.

Safe & Sound
Just wanted to let Blogland know that I'm home again, safe and sound. I had a great time in Mexico with my lesbian lover, AD. You didn't know this about me?? Well, that's because it's far from true, obviously. After moving into our first hotel room we soon heard the clank, clank, clank
of dishes being washed in the hall outside our room and the entire floor smelled of steakhouse. I called and said nah-ah. So, we were moved to a couple's hotel where we were 'that couple'. You could see it in everyone's eyes, the interest of knowing our story. Anyway, the hotel was very nice and outside of doing way too much traveling, our trip was awesome. I will get some pics posted this weekend sometime.
The wedding was beautiful... Congratulations again Tre and Jason!! I'm so happy I was able to be a part of the festivities.
Coming home was a huge highlight... being away makes me realize how much I love my "real life" and how great it is being here.
