As I was listening to talk radio on my way home (yes, I'm that old - ahem - sophisticated) I heard the dreaded words... 'cancel a show like Dirty Sexy Money'. What?!?! Cancel DSM?? I haven't felt a disappointment like this over something so incredibly trivial in a really long time. I felt it all the way to my stomach. I explained to BigCat tonight that I haven't felt this excitement for the tele since Friends ended... and when was that, five years ago? Since last season, this has been a highlight of my Wednesday's, right behind having the day off with the Bird. [tear]
I hope it's not another five years til the next great. Or am I missing one out there??

Verdict
The verdict is in... I didn't get the position. At this time, I am trying to force some positive thoughts:
* Both the Bird and I still have Wednesday's to enjoy together
* I am content with my current position
* With my recent health issues, a department that understands is helpful
* The supervisor "wishes they had a position for me"
* She also stated that a great fitting position may be opening in the future
* They now know me and were very impressed
* If they did have someone in mind when this all began (which is what I believe), I have a chance of being that someone the next time around.
So, that's that. Onto the weekend to recover.

Just to blog
I've been having trouble with my postings lately... nothing is striking a chord to be written about. Maybe part of it is that my mood matches the weather of this past weekend... rainy, gloomy, grey. That makes writing a bit more difficult.
I am however wearing a darling pair of dragonfly shoes today (thanks Babbe!). That makes me feel a bit happier.
Also, I've been in search of a new hair girl and continue to fail. BigCat prefers that I no longer drive out to my main gal (it's approximately 50+ miles, so I don't blame him), but finding a good one for a short-do is exhausting. I have now given 4 girls in the area a try, some were horrible, others okay, but nothing fantastic. The mission continues...

A day of...
quibbles. I get to work, people are yammering. First this one, then that one, about each other and everyone else. Emails, about something so simple as an outing, are circulating with gripes. Back and forth and back and forth. It's all very tiring and not the way I wanted to start out my Friday, or any day for that matter.
It does put some perspective on how this affects other people. I know I do my share of complaining, work and elsewhere, but today has made me realize to a new level the impact it can have on others. No one knows how many directions one person is hearing it from at one time, and about such minute things.
I also ate my lunch for breakfast. It's going to be a long day...

Not so fast
One of the most exciting moments of my desktop purchase was ripping apart the dinosaur and putting it where it belonged... downstairs, cables unplugged, never to be used again. That is until I realized that many of my most used files were maintained in there. Some were awaiting on a 3.5 inch floppy (what's that you say? people don't use those anymore???) and the rest were in the belly of the beast. So, one entire day later I am at dino's feet digging for information. Now, it has taken a life on in the basement. At least after all these years, it was there for me when I needed it.

Spring Cold
No, not the weather... me. I have another stupid cold. Not only do I feel like crapola, but I can't taste a darn thing. Nothing. The joy of eating is gone. A part of me thinks it's okay, maybe I'll eat less. However, when I'm sick I just want comfort food. I'm finding no comfort in eating. I truly thought cold season was done and over with. How wrong I was.

Really????
I don't know about where you are, but I woke up to a solid covering of white this morning...

Emergency Team Member
We're having a tornado drill at work today and it's my responsibility as my department's Emergency Team Member to make sure all other employees are out and safe before myself. Yep, that's right, I'm putting my life on the line for others {firm pat on the back}. What I don't really understand is why we need to practice this drill. We learned so early in school what to do and now as adults still need lessons? And really, if there were a tornado, or fire, or other extreme condition, are people really going to listen to me, or just run for their lives? I think I'd probably be running for my own at that point. If you can't figure it out, too bad. Hard lesson learned. So, in a bit here, I'm heading to the basement to sweat it out with hundreds of other county employees. Good times.

Crabbit
That's what I am today. Not for the greatest of reasons. Partly because I was up too late in order to LOSE all 3 of our games. The other reason are small ones that are just piling up into a little mound.
I pose a question for the parental units out there... how do you feel about baby swimming classes? I was planning to sign Peanut and myself up for the 'Minnows' class in June, with a good friend and her babe that's the same age. I told BigCat about it yesterday and it proceeded into a disagreement on our way to FIL and MIL's. The class is for little ones 6-18 months, Peanut would be about 10. Obviously he may not actually learn to swim, but I thought it would be fun for the two of us and that he'd get acclimated to the water before the almighty Lake E vacay. I was so excited and then quickly disappointed when I learned that the hubby doesn't think it's a good idea whatsoever. Just to verify, he thinks lessons would be good someday but just not this early. I see his point but I still think it would be a good idea and good fun for Peanut and me! As of right now, I said 'fine, I won't do it' but now I'm leaning towards doing it.

Baa Baa
In looking for the cute lil' lambs out the back window, I'm suddenly distracted by all the... garbage! Yesterday's wind seems to have blown in every piece of litter people throw out along with the neighbor's ball and flung it up against the farmer's fence lining our backyard. 11hn hg <------ (Peanut was typing to say hi). Disgusting.
