Pack it up, pack it in

Oh my gosh!!! 5 days?!?! I am nowhere near ready. The good news is that I found the lawn chair I've been looking for the past 5+ years (yep, I'm that easy to please... a lawn chair) and some good books to read while I kick back in it. I ended up with: The Time Traveler's Wife, A New Earth and Water for Elephants. The remaining suggestions have found their way to the future read list. I sure did appreciate the suggestions! I know Peanut will keep me more than busy, but I hope to get one of them read. I can't believe my countdown is almost up. My favorite holiday is almost upon us. That brings me to a good point... I'm most likely going to be at home for the 4th this year, for the first time, oh I don't know... ever!! I'm really hoping the town puts on some sparklies, I heart fireworks. This time I'll even have my sought after lawn chair.

Between now and then... packing, shopping, working, packing, stressing, mommying, packing, packing...

Curtain Call

I always turn the same way while showering, towards the shower curtain. Never do I face my tail-end towards the curtain. Why in the world would this be?? Anyone else have any crazy idiosyncrasies like this, or am I the only one? I'm quite surprised to have realized this quirk after 28 years of life.

WEDnesDAY

Today has been, and will continue to be, a good day.

Peanut and I dropped Kalli off at the beauty shop, then went for a walk down by the lake. I love that about where we live, the right amount of city and the right amount of country. We've never walked down there together before, it was so nice seeing the water, hearing the birds and feeling the sunshine. Perfect. Even better, we ran into a nice little park where Peanut got to swing for the first time... he loved it! Big smiles and giggles the entire time (here's a perfect place in which I could share a picture). We headed home in time for lunch and a nap.

It's mid-afternoon now and we're getting ready to head out again. Peanut gets to hang out with Grandpa and Grammy, BigCat and I get to go to a wedding! My girlfriend is getting married, and I'm so happy to be sharing in this beautiful day with her and her almost hubby. This may be the only WEDnesDAY wedding in my life. Congrats K & R!!

Awesome

I was looking through a catalog yesterday and found this t-shirt. Bringin' Awesome back?? What?!?! Where did Awesome go? As far as I'm concerned Awesome has always been right here, a large part of my life. Awesome is one of the highest ratings I use for various subjects, daily. And someone is insinuating that it left?? I think not. There is nothing to bring back, it's been here all along.

The voice in my head

{This a.m. I'm heading out for a walk/run.}

It's 8:30, why is this guy walking down our street right now?? I think he's trudging through the walk of shame (after a good night of drinking, still in your bar clothes, etc.) He wouldn't usually cross my mind as a threat, but this is weird... moving on.

I'm going to run for a while, get a head start in case that guy decides to come after me (he was however walking the opposite direction). Oh yeah, and that is why I came out here in the first place.

It's an absolutely b.e.a.utiful morning for a run. Never thought I'd say that in this lifetime.

Run, walk, run, walk... running more than walking. Impressive. Ok, I'm going to make it to that mailbox running. Now that one. Ok, to that road. Wow, I'm actually running quite a bit! Ok, I'll run to the bottom of that hill, it looks like killer to get up. Huh... seems I have more energy than anticipated, I'll run up it until I no longer can. Oh my, I'm already at the middle. Now I have to make.it.to.the.top. I'm here, I actually made it to the top of this hill! I can't believe it. I'm almost believing you can do anything you put your mind to at this point, at least that's the way I'm thinking as the adrenaline is pumping through my body. Whew.

I still need to clock this path out, but I'm certain I ran well over a mile. I'm impressing myself by doing something I never thought I would, and making it up those big hills.

Cabin Reads

Normally by 'T minus two weeks to vacay', I'm well on my way to packed. However, a baby changes a heck of a lot more than just what time I have to get out of bed in the morning.

I need some suggestions for a good, light, cabin read... anyone out there have any? I may finally get A New Earth, focus a bit on myself during the relaxing lake trip. However, I also want a story to read.

Masking the Worry

I went to a shower a couple months back and they had some extravagant gift baskets for their guests. Mine included many items to help a gal relax, how perfect! With cute little jewels, a white eye mask found it's way from the basket into my night stand, where I thought it would stay forever.

This sounds odd, but every night when I lie down I feel the little area in between my eyes tighten up, increasing the depth of that little 'worried' line tremendously. Am I thinking too hard? Worried? Anxious? Whatever the case, it really bothers me. I recently have started using my thumb, finger, whatever, to put some pressure in that spot which helps me to relax. I was even starting to think that maybe a little Botox would freeze it and then I wouldn't have to feel it again (too bad that's way out of my price range). And then, one night, I threw on the pretty little eye mask.

It was wonderful, for so many reasons. It blocks any light, felt nice over my eyes and most importantly put the right amount of pressure on my worried line. I may look kind of funny in bed these days, but I heart my eye mask.

Summer Fun

That was quite the break I had from blogland! Where does the time seriously go?!? I was asked on more than one occasion this weekend what I've been up to. First response... Peanut! He is totally on the move, crawling, climbing, standing, playing... wow, he turned into a little boy so darn fast! What's next, high school graduation??

Speaking of which, we went to BigCat's cousin's grad party yesterday, had fun catching up with the fam and eating lots from the delish spread. Afterwards we went to a bbq to meet up with all of my girls, their men and lots of kiddies. It's so fun to be at this age, with more lil' ones being added to the brood in droves. And this day of fun followed the best part of the entire weekend, my friend's reception in lieu of her wedding vows shared in Mexico a couple of months ago. So much fun to hang out with so many friends, from near and far. Definitely one of the best times I've had at a wedding reception (although, those who know me well are aware that I LOVE all weddings and am always in my prime).

Sunday Funday, BigCat trolled out to do some fishing and Peanut and I stayed home, playing, picking up and recovering from the last two crazy days in any way we can before the new work week starts. Ahhh, the joys of summer.

Diagnosis

Sinus infection.

At least they can give me drugs for that. Hopefully they start working soon!

Whew!

Another weekend has flown right by before me! Let's see... Friday night BigCat and I laid low, just hung out with Peanut and went to bed fairly early. Oh, and I visited Gold's Gym (snide remark here about their poor business strategy or lack of one). Saturday, BigCat impressed me much. It was my turn to sleep past the Peanut hour (we each get one day on the weekend off morning duty if it works out) and by the time I woke, he had the whole house dusted and vaccuumed. The topper? He also washed windows! Wow. This left me time to go to Goldie's to sweat a bit, do some cleaning and hit up my usuals, Cub and Target. Whew, productive! And finally, Sunday, which was one of the l.on.g.e.s.t days, but only because we did so much in it. I was up at 6 with Peanut (after a measley 4.5 hours of sleep), got a bunch of stuff ready for the day, went to Goldie's, home to get ready because at noon my fam was coming over for a little BBQ and Peanut-fix. We ate, caught up and played some bean bags. Late afternoon we all pretty much left together as BigCat and I headed down to Shakopee. He was invited to Raceway Park for the Nascar races, dinner and beer through work. It ended up being more fun than we expected, and it was a lovely evening to sit out and watch the show.

Today I get to work late, then I have our bi-monthly dinner with my girlfriends. I love these get-togethers. However, I can hardly wait to crawl into bed tonight, I'm wiped out!
